The Ashoka Diamond, the Greatness of History Transformed in the Present

The William Goldberg Diamond Corporation recently unveiled a new collection of diamonds to the world named after the ancient and beloved Indian leader, Ashoka the Great.  Ashoka converted to Buddhism during his reign and devoted himself to easing the suffering and misery of his people, turning away from war to embrace peace and serenity.  His name meant “without sorrow” and it is the serene, joyful beauty that lives as an icy fire within each Ashoka diamond that gives it this name.  Originally, crafted from southern Indian diamonds the name was almost pre-destined as these diamonds were serene, languid, and ethereal—what else could they be but Ashoka?

All Ashoka diamonds have been crafted to contain 62 rounded facets.  These multiple, carefully rounded facets give these diamonds a unique and other-worldly shimmer as light graces their surface.  Enthusiasts of the Ashoka cut enjoy their uniqueness, their ability to appear larger than their actual carat—a feat that could only be created by the artists at William Goldberg.

Recent celebrity sightings have made the Ashoka Diamond an in-demand property as the very nature of the ring (engagement, award show) displays the confidence in both the longevity of the relationship and in the William Goldberg Diamond Corporation.  The Ashoka Diamond collection is a collection of heirloom jewelry, living works of artistry and craftsmanship.

The Ashoka Diamond collection contains: rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, watches, and cufflinks.  Both men and women can enjoy these one of a kind items.  An Ashoka Diamond from William Goldberg tells as much about the wearer as the maker.  People who purchase a jewel like this are unique individuals with a taste for the finer things in life, and who can distinguish between expense and quality.

The line of Ashoka Diamonds is the latest in a series of diamonds created at William Goldberg, and hopefully not the last.

World Renowned Ashoka Diamond Jewelry

Ashoka Diamond Jewelry reigns as some of the most exquisite jewelry in the modern world.  Known for its unusual beauty and graceful design qualities, the jewelry got its name from one of the most famous diamonds ever to exist.  That stone was named for a much-beloved Indian emperor who taught his people the value of peace and harmony after spending years of his life as a fierce warrior.  Today’s jewelry reflects both strength in design and the peaceful serenity of everlasting beauty.

The William Goldberg Diamond Corporation is responsible for improving upon the original cut of this famous diamond by adding more dimensions and increasing the diamond’s capacity to reflect light. Slightly rounding the corners of the stone and adding a rectangular girdle to the surface achieved this.  The company patented the recreated design in the year 2000.  Since that time, William Goldberg Diamond jewelry has gained much acclaim for creating some of the most sought after contemporary jewelry pieces currently in existence.

The jewelry has gained legendary status, in part, by its high desirability, rarity and for being the choice of famous individuals.  The diamonds are currently being used in a collection of watches that will sell from $200K to $2million each.  William Goldman’s exacting standards still come into play today, long after his demise.  There simply is no comparison.

Each diamond in this collection appears to be alive with movement from the refracted light that bounces within the interior surfaces of the gem.  The color and clarity are top grade making them highly prized, albeit rare, jewels.  Additionally, each diamond has been inscribed with a microscopic certification number that authenticates is by the Gemological Institute of America and the American Gem Society.  This increases the value of the diamonds considerably and certifies that each is genuine and of the high quality that it is advertised to be.

There is no other diamond jewelry in the world as beautiful as Ashoka Diamond Jewelry.   The name is synonymous with exquisite beauty and highest quality.

The Rarity of the Ashoka Cut Diamond

The rare  Ashoka Cut Diamond is  precisely cut using an extra long rough cut,  a difficulty level that makes  these precious jewels particularly rare and highly esteemed.  Facet placements are meticulously created to provide maximum brilliance and sparkle.  The final product imparts an inventive effulgence of spectacular light  found in no other cut of diamond.  The cut is timeless, yet unusual enough to be highly esteemed by the  contemporary lover of diamonds.

The ingenious symmetry and strategically placed angles of this diamond cut have ranked its inclusion among the most highly sought jewels in the world.  No other cut can lay claim to this kind of beauty and shine.  When combined with perfect color, carat weight and clarity, these gems become works of highly valued art.

It is said that diamonds are the best conductors of heat in the world.  This cut appears as though it has millions of burning stars captured within a tiny crystal vessel. As the light reflects through the facets, it gives the appearance of movement and seems to come alive and dance with brilliance and shine. This quality is what imparts these diamonds with their highly-desired  characteristics of  unusual beauty and makes them so highly coveted.

These uniquely cut diamonds have achieved remarkable fame for their flawless beauty, recreated by William Goldberg and Company with slight modifications that make them sparkle even more than before.  Even America’s most famous jewelry company cannot boast of this exclusive cut and design in any of their highly acclaimed diamonds.  William Goldberg managed to slightly round the corners of the original design in a way that refracts the light into an even more dimensional effect resulting in a diamond like no other.

Another exclusive aspect of the rare  Ashoka Cut Diamond is that the cut, and the manner in which the light is refracted through the interior surfaces, causes it to appear almost 30% larger than diamonds that are cut using  in the rectangular emerald cut configuration.

The Man Behind the Beauty

William Goldberg, born in 1925, has become the professional diamond dealer that everyone wants jewelry from.  But, after all the beautiful creations he has made, who wouldn’t want his jewelry?  He dedicated his entire life to selling the most beautiful cut diamonds that you could find.  He started out his business with diamonds in 1952 by creating the company known as Goldberg & Weiss.  This company was created with Irving Weiss, a talented and efficient diamond cutter.  After learning the ropes of business, he really got the diamond business kicking when he formed the William Goldberg Diamond Corporation located in New York City.  This definitely doesn’t end his term as a diamond entrepreneur.  He earned enough respect in his talent with diamonds to become president of the New York Diamond Dealers Club.  Although his life ended in 2003, his reputation has not.  The company is still producing diamonds of top value to its customers.  His name will be carried on and remembered as long as diamonds are still being created.  Goldberg started this ongoing business which has created a cut of diamond that is known among dealers everywhere, the Ashoka diamond.  This diamond is reputable not only for its rarity, but also for its intense beauty.  The time and enduring patience put into creating this diamond can only be by a cutter from Goldberg’s company.  Blemish-free and flawless, these diamonds make all other diamonds seem like a rock on the side of the road.  Goldberg never settled for anything less than best and the company finds it important to keep that attitude to this very day.
